El alma
America is the team you love or you love to hate, nunca in between. The most decorated club in Mexican soccer and the one everybody else circles on the calendar. Owned by the Televisa machine for generations, they carry themselves like royalty and their fans wear it with pride, azulcrema elegance and zero apology. If you grew up with a dad who screamed at the TV every time the Aguilas got a call, this is that team. Rivals call them arrogant. America calls it winning. The Clasico Nacional against Chivas is the biggest game in the country, and the Clasico Joven against Cruz Azul is pure barrio noise.
El Tío opina
No, no, órale, siéntate que te voy a explicar el América, nephew. Sixteen leagues. Dieciséis. More than anybody, and they will remind you every chance they get, porque la humildad nunca fue parte del uniforme. This is Televisa's team, the money team, the team raised to believe the trophy belongs to them before the whistle even blows. And here is the part nobody admits at the carne asada: half the people who swear they hate the Águilas own a jersey "for the ironía." Sure, primo. The Clásico Nacional against Chivas is the biggest game in the country, humildad versus realeza, and the Clásico Joven against Cruz Azul is pure barrio noise. You can boo them all ninety minutes. You will still watch every second. That, nephew, is the whole trick of the América: they made you care by making you mad. Respect the trophies. The actitud, esa te la cobro aparte.
